#SSAmazingAchievements - Skye and the party

Ethans EscapadesOn Saturday we hosted a party for Dayton and 50 of our friends and family, you can read more about the party on my Happy Birthday Dayton post. We were really apprehensive as to how Skye would cope, she hates noise, crowds, flashing lights etc, it drives her sensory processing disorder into overload and sends her into meltdown mode.

On arrival to set up the hall I was surprised to find I was allowed to have access to the lounge area at the back of the hall. This was perfect for a little quiet room should Skye or Logan need somewhere quiet to be. We also had a lovely outside area that was all gated off so no one could escape. As the hall started filling up Skye spent her time flitting in and out and generally running around. When the children's entertainer arrived she disappeared outside and was running up and down with her hands clamped over her ears.

The first 20 minutes of the show didn't impress her, it was to noisy and she just kept pointing at the door to leave.
There was suddenly a turn around and when I looked she was sat down with all the other children listening and taking part in the show!
She even put her crisps down (never happens!!) and put her hand in the air and wiggled her fingers as the magician asked all the children to do! She even joined in with some dancing! She managed to last for the whole 2 hour party and seemed to enjoy it. She hasn't put her magic wand down yet she was given and I feel more relaxed about events in the future!

  1. That's so wonderful, big step for your little girl #SSAA

  2. LOVE this, such a wonderful achievement. Way to go, Skye.

  3. Great achievement-well done Skye!

  4. This is fantastic, it sounds like she just needed a bit of time to get used to everything and the hall had the perfect place to do this. We had to deal with a massive meltdown in the supermarket at the weekend. It would have been easier to leave but we kept going and Ethan calmed down half way through the shop. It's horrible to see their meltdowns but fantastic that you now have hope for future events.

Thanks for linking up with Small Steps Amazing Achievements :0)
